In an environment where many find it difficult to forecast the coming months, Doug Suttles is talking about trends for the next 20 years.

 Suttles, Chief Operating Officer for BP Exploration & Production, says, in short, “the world needs what we do.” Oil and gas aren’t going anywhere.

Devon is undergoing a fundamental shift in the way they do business. All of their international assets are on the auction block as they turn their focus solely to North America.  

Larry Nicholson, Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Devon Energy Corporation, discussed the reasons for leaving some of the hottest oil and gas plays on the planet.

“We are in the process of selling all of our assets in Brazil, Azerbaijan, and China, which is of course a major change for us,” says Nichols. “The reason is simple—why incur the risk and expense of offshore international when we can do the same drilling at home?”

Deepwater, say some, holds about a third of the world’s remaining undiscovered oil and gas reserves.

 Chairman and CEO of Noble Energy, Chuck Davidson, is aggressively going after his company’s share, upping their capital campaign by 85 percent. He discussed Noble’s take on deepwater as well as overall trends in deepwater plays.
