Our Programs

Energy Educators

In 2007, the members of PESA’s Executive Committee began exploring the idea of having the association become more involved in educating the public on the role of the energy industry in today’s economy.  Funds were allocated to begin the process of finding out how best we could achieve success in this area.  The Executive Committee soon concluded that there were various programs already established in the industry where the association could provide funding and where our individual members could contribute and make a difference as well.

To date, we have contributed funding to the IPAA Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology Academies, the Offshore Energy Center at the Ocean Star Museum in Galveston and the National Energy Education Development program.

PESA has provided stipends for teacher training for the Petroleum Academies, and our members have contributed a great deal of time and energy to the academies’ lecture programs.  There are opportunities to serve as guest lecturers at the academies along with PESA’s own Oil 101 seminar.  Each summer, PESA conducts a week-long Foreign Service Officer Training Program, held in cooperation with the US Departments of State, Energy and Commerce.  The program provides training to US embassy officers around the world and to agency representatives in Washington, DC.

Pat Bond of Schlumberger chairs the committee and his goal is to involve as many PESA members as possible in sharing the industry’s story with the public.  If you are interested in getting involved, please call the PESA office.
