Stephen P. Thurston (Steve), a native of Denver, Colorado, has a master’s degree in geology from the University of Washington, and is currently Vice President of Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company in charge of the Deepwater Exploration and Projects Strategic Business Unit, responsible for all of Chevron’s exploration and project development work in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Steve has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his career with Chevron since 1982, including Exploration Supervisor for all of California’s Coastal Basins, Exploration Supervisor for the Gulf of Mexico Shelf, and Profit Center Manager for the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. More recently Steve has served as Country Manager for Chevron upstream in Brazil and as General Manager of Strategic Planning for Chevron Corporation before starting his current assignment on January 1st 2008.
