The visibility of social networks in governmental, sports and business activities, as well as in personal life, is increasing daily. Recent examples include:

  • US Navy sets social network policy
  • Texas Tech football coach bans "Twitter" use by players
  • Facebook information being used in sales efforts
  • UK says social networks deteriorating worker productivity

In business, social networks are beginning to be a part of, or affect, a wide range of functions including sales, human resources, operations, technology, etc.

Presenters from technology companies, academia, and policy consulting firms will cover the growth, trends, opportunities and practices of using social networks in the workplace.
