Bill Coates is President, Schlumberger Oilfield Services, North America, a position he assumed in April 2006. Based in Sugar Land, Texas, he is responsible for strategic direction of business operations in the United States and Canada.

Prior to this, Bill served as GeoMarket Manager of Schlumberger Oilfield Services Gulf of Mexico operations, a role he assumed in 2003. Earlier positions he has held include IT and E-Commerce Coordinator, Oilfield Services Headquarters in Paris; Manager, Austin Product Center; and in Atlanta with Telecom North America. Bill began his career with Schlumberger in 1988 as a Wireline Field Engineer at Houston Offshore, then held various field assignments in Trinidad, Mexico, Australia and Balikpapan. Bill holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech University.
